Ballinasloe Garda Station

H&F Electrical Contractors Ltd was appointed as the electrical subcontractor for the
phased electrical installation works at Ballinasloe Garda Station. This project encompassed a new cell block, refurbishment of a derelict building, and upgrading works in the existing station. The works were carried out in compliance with all health and safety standards, relevant regulations, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver a complete electrical services installati on for the detention cell block
  and upgrades to the existing Garda station.
• Safely remove redundant materials and dispose of them responsibly.
• Coordinate with the main contractor and An Garda Síochána to minimise
  disruption, including scheduling electrical outages with prior approval.
• Refurbishing a protected structure.

Scope of Work:

• Electrical Power and Distribution:
  • Install LV sub-distribution units
  • Install Sub mains cables
• Containment Systems:
  • Install containment systems for new cabling.
  • Complete containment for the cell upgrade project.
• Lighting and Emergency Lighting:
  • Complete installation of lighting and emergency lighting in the cells,
    corridors, shower areas, stairwells, and toilets.
• Fire Alarm and Smoke Detection:
  • Replace the existing conventional fire alarm panel throughout the
    building.
  • Connect VESDA smoke detection systems in cells to the fire alarm panel,
    as well as a new panel in the public office.
• General Services:
  • Upgrade general services in the cell corridor and cell areas, including
    sockets and accessories.
  • Remove existing equipment in the cells and install new equipment as per
    specification.
• Security Systems:
  • Install new intruder and security systems
• Data Network Systems:
  • Incorporate new data network systems with the existing network
    infrastructure.
• Mechanical Services Electrical Services:
  • Provide power and control cabling for all mechanical plant
