H&F Electrical Contractors Ltd successfully completed nationwide upgrades to Garda
station cells, delivering enhanced functionality, compliance, and safety across multiple
locations. The works included a comprehensive electrical refurbishment and the
integration of specialist systems tailored to the unique requirements of the cell areas.
Key elements of the project included:
- Strip – Out Works: Removal of redundant electrical services and hardware
conflicting with the new architectural layouts. - Power Distribution: Supply and installation of a new electrical sub-distribution
board and the extension of existing switchboard installations. - Specialist System Integration: Connection of cell – specific systems, including
the Cell Call Alarm System, VESDA fire detection, panic alarm, and electric cell
heating systems, to the existing low-voltage mains distribution system. - Lighting Installations: Installation of general lighting, emergency lighting, and
specialised lighting systems for cells, corridors, and prisoner shower areas. - Control and Communication Systems: Installation of cell call systems, including push-button units, over-door cell light indicators, system panels, and associated wiring. Additional installations included a cell panic strip system, data cabling services, and a two-way intercom at rear doors.
- Mechanical and Electrical Integration: Complete power and control cabling for mechanical services, along with the installation of cable management systems such as trays, trunking, and conduits.
- Safety and Security Enhancements: Emergency lighting test units, intruder alarm extensions, and comprehensive access control installations were completed to ensure security and compliance.
- Earthing and Bonding: Ensuring the safe operation of all systems with a
complete installation of earthing and bonding.
