H&F Electrical Contractors successfully delivered the full electrical services installation for the new 96-Bed Acute Ward Block at University Hospital Limerick, a major healthcare expansion and one of the most significant clinical infrastructure projects completed in Ireland in recent years.
The four-storey, 6,700 m² building provides 96 single ensuite rooms, including isolation rooms, bariatric rooms, clinical support spaces and plant areas. The new ward block was constructed directly above an existing four-storey live hospital building, requiring meticulous planning, controlled sequencing and continuous coordination with active clinical operations.
This €105m development was delivered within a live acute hospital environment, with all shutdowns, diversions and electrical tie-ins completed with zero disruption to life-critical services, ensuring uninterrupted patient care at all times.
We undertook full BIM coordination throughout the design and construction process, ensuring seamless integration of electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil and clinical requirements across both the new and existing hospital infrastructure.
